Tube Sponge Reproduction Structure
Tube sponges can reproduce sexually, and by fragmentation, also known as division.
Small buds form at the top of the sponge's tube. Over the course of a year, these buds break off and float away to settle in another area. Similarly, pieces of the sponge that are broken off during for example storms or other disturbances, gives the sponge an opportunity to reattach to the bottom and grow into a new sponge.
